Meter Number on your electricity bill
In short. The serial number physically stamped or printed on the meter itself — used to confirm the bill matches the meter installed at your property, not to look up a bill.
Where to find it on your bill
In the consumer details block, and physically on a plate on the meter body.
This is the one identifier you can verify without looking at paper — walk out to the meter and the serial number on the bill should match the number on the meter casing. A mismatch (after a meter replacement the DISCO didn't update in its system, for instance) is a legitimate reason to query a bill at your subdivision office.
Note the meter number and the reading shown on the meter's display the day you get any new connection or meter replacement — that photograph is your evidence if a billing dispute comes up later.
More identity & account fields
- Reference Number — The 10–14 digit code printed at the top of your bill that identifies your meter to PITC's billing system — the only thing CheckBills.net needs to look up your bill.
- Consumer Number — Your DISCO's internal account identifier — distinct from the reference number PITC uses for bill lookups, and the number DISCO staff will usually ask for at a subdivision office.
